Lessons from the potter

Marite had said that children must be 9 years old before they try the wheel. But given that his best buddy in the village is already nine and that she has new white clay which is easier to handle, she gave Seb an early start. Here they are, working on his 2nd pot ever. He loves it and takes it very seriously. She in turn is strict but impressed with her student.

Meanwhile, Sophie goes over every day and does some hand-building of clay items. Her French grows in leaps and bounds - a mix of immersion with Marite and imaginative play with 4 year old Isore, sister of Seb's buddy.

Both children give us daily updates as to the health of Mamie Suzanne who now lives with Michel and Marite. They were thrilled when she felt well enough to come down to the studio / boutique yesterday.

Village life at its best.
