What a wonderful time in BC, seeing friends and family and old sights. The kids had a lovely time reconnecting with family friends whom they haven't seen for 4 years, and got on splendidly with their cousins. Auntie Jeet and the Clang-clang aunties were the hostesses withe mostes.
The adults had a lovely wine pour at Kate's and everyone enjoyed the games night on the kids' last evening, izzle. There were special cookies and gifts, the water taxi across False Creek, a brunch place with a play kitchen, a bird sanctuary in the rain (but with rellies and brollies), a Munsch musical, and a meal to co-celebrate 18 years deep. (and yes, the kids flew first class out there - luck of the stand-by draw)
While these photos were taken 3 weeks ago (while visiting Kate, Chris, Zoe, Molly & Jacob in Orillia), they could have been taken this past week as winter swept back in to southern Ontario. Poor Lorraine was doing some pinch-hit grandmothering this week and was caught without her boots.
Seb & I just checked out the blog of a Europe-based friend. All sorts of snaps of signs of spring. "Already?" he queried. "Since how long?"
Their dad (who is known to love a newspaper or two) was prompted to wonder aloud whether newspaper adoration (and transit info sheets) is bred in the bone.
The clouds parted and so Mike nipped out with the kids(yes, Sophie was there) to show them some BC beauty at Lighthouse Park (plus one on Auntie Jeet's deck).
We made it to Vancouver on Saturday night (5 out of 6 of us were bumped up to first class - photos to follow). Rainy Sunday packed full of friends and family (photos to follow).
Monday is overcast but the kids have made it to feed the ducks and watch the impressive freighters in English Bay.
The adults/parents are preparing for tonight's soak and sip (hot tub party at a friend's who is a sommelier!).
