Our second athlete

Strolling up the Champs Elysee last December, Mr Man announced that he was registered to run the Paris marathon in April. My, my. This guy can go without running for months and then do a 10 km circuit and barely get out of breath - but could he run 42 kms?

The poor fellow did his long practice run in January and promptly injured his foot - 6 weeks later and it was still not perfect; the waiting was so bad that he started up again anyway. Then he was struck down by a bad cold which lasted a week and then a terrible virus which knocked him out for another. Would he be up for the marathon?

Well, we headed to Paris last Saturday - ready to support our marathon man. It was glorious running weather, but with 50 000 runners registered, we failed to see him not once but twice and then missed each other at the meeting point :-(

These are the feet (and the all important shoes) that carried him 42 kms

Two excited children and one equally excited dad
One wonderfully pleased 'finisher' who was headed for a fabulous time (4 hours!) until the 40 km mark, when he was lightly injured and had to limp-hop in pain the final 2 kms...

Two proud children and a well-deservedly proud dad

We do indeed love our marathon man

But you didn''t think his cheering squad would be without wit and irony, did you?
This is a running family joke (which Sophie obviously gets), which is a misquote of Shakespeare.
Umm, and let's just say the recovery is taking some time...
