Baby as art or creative new mum?
I urge you to pause your day and click on this link http://dalesdesigns.net/A-enersen.htm?sms_ss=facebook&at_xt=4d46035f17831c47%2C15.
I don't particularly like the Anne Geddes phenomenon - to me, it's too cutesie and forced and somehow, perhaps because it is an industry http://www.annegeddes.com/ , tinged with exploitation of babies that are not even her own.
But this new mum's creativity somehow sidesteps those issues. Yes, the images are adorable. Yes, it is meticulously planned. Yes, she has embedded her name in each photo. But to me, the images are not cutesie, forced or exploitative.
To me, they speak to the magic of fairy tales, the innocence of a child, the transiency of infancy, the universality of dreamland, the wonder of new parents watching their sleeping children, a mother's need to create order amidst the chaos of the first year of life, the beauty of the detail, the pulse of creativity that cannot be squashed by diapers and burp cloths, endless feeds and minimal sleep; in fact, this mum shows how her creativity is blossoming.
Bet it's a first child. But almost makes me want to have a final shot at it!
Tell me, do you have a favourite? Which one and why? or does the whole idea of styling your baby into a scene make you uncomfortable?
------Update at 10.40 ----
Turns out it soon will be an industry with her own book coming out soon....
And somehow, my links don't link but you can cut and paste them in a new window. I'm working on it...
