Just last month, it was news that a group of peanut-allergic UK children had been de-sensitised to peanuts by taking miniscule but increasing amounts of the nut and building up a tolerance. Now there is news of a group of US children who have been "cured" (29 out of 33 of them)!

[I didn't cry this time. I guess I am becoming de-sensitised too].
(P.S. Fellow bloggers, why are my links never hyperlinked???)

Blogger doesn't automatically hyperlink a web address. When you're editing, highlight the word (or words) you want to link, then click on the little icon at the top of the editor that looks like a chain link. Paste the link.
Voila.
No crying required!
Okay, I have an idea for a home-made version of desensitisation. Start with a PICTURE of a peanut. Then contemplate a soft toy in the shape of a peanut. Move on to looking at a jar of roasted peanuts on the supermarket shelf. Gradually approach a plate of peanut butter cookies....
Well, it works for fear of spiders.
