Happiness is sharing life with friends

Many moons ago, we were thrilled to find out that the Eardleys could come to visit us again in France - the 3rd year in a row that we have spent some time together!!

It's been a tough year for Emma and she needed a break

Visitors are a good excuse to get out and about - especially in August when there is soooo much to do

This was medieval day in Monflanquin

Lovable Nell
and her drinking horn
We watched a dramatic tale with horses - the blind knight

Most of our gang
One day, the parents went out for lunch
A lovely time was had
and when we got home, we discovered that the children had set themselves a lovely table but not consumed any lunch...

Instead, Nell was hitting the bottle at age 8
Clearly it was time to put them to work
and work they did
20 centimes for every dandelion root they dug up (but they need to show the root)
Nell was tickled with the 5 euros she earned
And Sophie earned even more!! (10.50)

Meanwhile, the older ones went on a  massive blackberry picking trip and were rewarded with our praise, a bit of cash and a lovely tart.

Speaking of lovely, look at this sweet cheddar that the Eardleys brought us
Don't break my heart
Emma & Ken nipped off for a mini-break without kids. It was an extra special chance to bond with the loveliest of girls. My love dug out a costume for Nell.

There don't seem to be any photos of the lovely afternoon canoeing the Dordogne. But we saw them quickly when we passed through Brighton.

Mucking about in the Dordogne

A wonderful 8 km family hike - complete with loads of blackberries

Back to school items in Le Clerc (lab coats!)

A gorgeous meal out (at La Bruceliere!!) with our dear friend Jean
Playing in Alice & Joao's pool

Making waffles in our inherited, authentic Belgian waffle maker
Mucking about includes some excellent wine opened for some dear friends
and of course great food - like Seb's potato dish

Checking out how much work will be required to repoint our garden wall
The annual pruning of the roses
A purple sort of day - are we part of Dordogne pourpre?

Dressing up as monsters in huge canvas sacks...
It was so lovely to be back in le petit village

Grandparent Camp 2017 - some later additions

A few more photos of the sailors and the trip to Hopewell rocks.
Don't their sweatshirts/the East Coast lifestyle look great?!
