True to form, the kids wanted to give out cards to their classmates (plus teachers, lunchroom monitor & crossing guard) today.
True to form their organised grandparents had bought them pre-made cards weeks before.
True to form, their parents wanted to them to distribute hand-made, non trade-marked cards.
So... we started the production line at oh, 8 pm, roped in my sister and her friend Jacqui, and all had a great 45 mins of fun.

My mum is one speedy blog follower; within minutes, I had the following response:
I remember at an elementary, think it was Roberta's grade at Horace Mann, the class was paired off and only one Valentine card was written and received. They had to write one aspect about the recipient that they liked. "I like Jamie, because he makes me laugh"; "Thank you, Samantha, for always helping me understand maths"; all interesting heartfelt comments.
That school had a great reading day too; whenever the bell rang everyone had to stop and read from a book they carried with them - including teacher, janitor, lunch ladies, admin. The same day they had a grade competition with questions on literature; Roberta excelled! (Joanna was in the great OKK class, mixed ages and abilities with exciting rooms devoted to math, English or art)
Also everyone at school that day dressed as a book character, and others tried to guess. A great time for young and old!
Heady days and happy memories from California - just as you are creating now in Toronto...........Sylvia
We were discussing Valentine cards as we 'crafted' last night. Our friend Jacqui has kept a stash from elementary school and they are of the sort that my mum describes, except the comments are less heartfelt and more prosaic: "You talk a lot"; "You run fast". We all had a chuckle.
